Supported Independent Living (SIL)

The Supported Independent Living Program was created in 1994 as an expansion of the Group Home Residential Program.

SIL is a program that is intended to provide individuals with support to help them live independently in the community without support most of the time.

Each participant in the SIL program receives different supports depending on what they need.

Areas of support might include:

  • Budgeting

  • Housework

  • Transportation

  • Menu Planning and Cooking

  • Personal Care

  • Assistance dealing with professionals (doctors, landlords, social workers, etc.)

  • Assistance in finding housing

Gravelbourg Bon Ami, Inc. supports individuals in this program based on their Person Centred Plan. At the PCP meeting, the individual and support workers discuss goals and how we will help reach them.
